The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon Milner Tozaka today received and accepted the Letter of Credentials from the World Health Organisation (WHO) introducing its new country representative in Solomon Islands, Dr Sevil Huseynova.

Dr Huseynova presented the Letter of Credentials to Minister Tozaka during a brief presentation ceremony this morning.

In her remarks at the ceremony, Dr Huseynova said she was pleased with her new appointment as the WHO Country Representative in Solomon Islands and looks forward to working closely with the Solomon Islands Government in discharging her duties.

In response, Minister Tozaka welcomed Dr Huseynova to Solomon Islands, saying he was pleased to perform the duty of receiving and accepting her Letter of Credentials on behalf of the Government and people of Solomon Islands.

He said he is confident that with Dr Huseynova’s expertise, Solomon Islands and the WHO will continue to develop a strong partnership that is devoted to a common goal of maximising the impact of the WHO’s mission in the country.

Minister Tozaka acknowledged the WHO’s joint partnership with Solomon Islands, especially in strengthening the country’s core health system.

He assured Dr Huseynova that the Solomon Islands Government will continue to accord her all the due courtesies and necessary facilities for the discharge of her duties to the full satisfaction of the Solomon Islands Government and also the WHO.

Minister Tozaka said it is his hope that Dr Huseynova will find her term of office in Solomon Islands ‘successful and rewarding.’
