Welcome to the official homepage of the Department of External Trade, part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Solomon Islands Government.
The Department is responsible for negotiating and implementing international trade agreements, managing Solomon Islands’ participation in labour mobility schemes in the region and supporting a trade-enabling environment (MFAET Corporate Plan 2014-2017).
The Department is committed to boosting the capacity of the Solomon Islands to trade, which means formulating and implementing effective trade policies. Our aim is to work with stakeholders, both within government and across the private sector and civil society, to integrate trade-related aspects of existing sectoral policies to enhance the role of trade in the economy in order to reduce poverty and generate sustained and inclusive economic growth.
