The Labour Mobility Unit (LMU) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade held its quarterly stakeholder meeting today at the Heritage Park Hotel.
The meeting served as a platform for LMU Director Christina Marau and the team from the Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) to provide updates on recent activities and Key priorities for remaining part of the year.
The stakeholders present included representatives from the panel of doctors, the police, Solomon Islands Professional Driver Training Services (SIPDTS), Australia Pacific Training Coalition, the Central Bank of Solomon Islands, and the Australian High Commission Office.
Director Marau expressed her gratitude to the stakeholders for their continued contributions, which have been instrumental in the successful mobilization of workers this year, marking steady growth compared to 2023.
As of July 2024, a total of 7,606 workers have been mobilized under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme. Additionally, 456 workers have been mobilized to New Zealand under the Recognised Employer Scheme during the first and second quarters of 2024. 500 more workers are expected to mobilise through the PALM scheme in the latter part of the year.
