The non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, His Excellency Junior Ani, presented his letter of credentials to the Acting Governor General, Hon. Patterson Oti, at Government House on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Ambassador Ani was recently appointed as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to Solomon Islands, with residence in Suva, Fiji.

In his welcoming remarks, Acting Governor General Hon. Patterson Oti acknowledged the cordial bilateral, regional, and multilateral relations enjoyed by Solomon Islands and the Republic of the Marshall Islands over the years.

“Our common interests continue to strengthen the bonds between our two countries,” he stated.

He emphasized that as part of the Pacific Family, Solomon Islands looks forward to collaborating closely with the Marshall Islands to enhance bilateral relations in areas of shared interest, such as environmental sustainability, climate change adaptation, health, capacity building, fisheries, trade, and the clearance of unexploded ordnance from World War II. These initiatives aim to foster a stronger partnership for the benefit of both nations.

Hon. Oti expressed confidence that under the tenure of His Excellency Junior Ani as the Non-Resident Ambassador, both countries will continue to cooperate meaningfully, pursuing shared interests to promote progress and prosperity for their peoples.

In response, Ambassador Ani reaffirmed the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ commitment to strengthening its close relationship with Solomon Islands and the broader Pacific region, advancing shared values, goals, and priorities for a safe, free, and prosperous Blue Pacific Continent.
