1) Introduction
Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China, the Advanced
Education Programs are designed to foster disciplinary and interdisciplinary graduate
education for high-end business officials and managerial personnel from the developing
countries. Fully conducted in English, these programs include one-year and two-year
master’s programs as well as three-year Ph.D. programs for potential candidates working in
the fields of government, trade, foreign affairs, agriculture, technology, education, culture,
and health in order to build the professional capacity and facilitate the social-economic
development of these countries. The candidates may be administrators, researchers, and
managers. Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree, relevant working experience,
and adequate health for the intensive training and research engagement.
Established in 2008, the program is playing increasingly significant roles in the
economic development and international cooperation between recipient countries and China.
The Ministry of Commerce began to found the Master’s Program in Forest Economics
and Policy in Beijing Forestry University (BFU) since 2017 aiming to training more
high-end business officials and managerial personnel of forestry sector from the developing
countries. It is also hoped that by pursuing the programs and acquiring the degrees,
participants will be able to build a successful career and prosperous life.

Academic Education Programs sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s
Republic of China is designed to foster high-end business officials and managerial
personnel for the recipient countries, offering one-year and two-year master programs
as well as three-year doctoral programs for the sole purpose of educating high-end and
inter-disciplinary talent working in the fields of government, trade, foreign affairs,
agriculture, technology, education, culture and health, energy and transportation, public
management etc. building intellectual capacity and facilitating the economic and social
development of the recipient countries. These programs provide financial aid for
governmental officials, research fellows, and senior managerial personnel on their
master and doctor education in China. Because of the short duration of the education
program, it is required for the applicants to have a bachelor’s degree, relevant working
experiences, in order to make the applicants fully apprehend the lecture and study
materials. In addition, decent physical conditions is also required in order for the
applicants to adjust well in the high-compact curriculum and get the degree in the end.

Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development.

The idea that China establishes the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development was initiated and announced by Chinese President XI Jinping during the High-Level Roundtable on South-South Cooperation at the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the United Nations in New York on September 26, 2015. With strong support from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Finance, and by virtue of Peking University’s strength in humanities and social sciences, Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD) was officially established at the National School of Development of Peking University (NSD) on April 29, 2016. President XI Jinping has announced that China will enhance development experience-sharing and capacity-building cooperation with other countries through the platform of the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development during his host of the dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries on September 5, 2017 in Xiamen, Fujian.
