The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Jeremiah Manele hosted a farewell reception for the outgoing People’s Republic of China’s Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Li Ming on Friday night.

The new United Nations Development Program Resident Representative to the Solomon Islands, Ms Munkhtuya (Tuya) Altangerel formally presented her Letter of Credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Jeremiah Manele on Friday, 8th September 2023.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Jeremiah Manele held a fruitful bilateral discussion with the Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Hon. John Rosso on Wednesday 30th August in Honiara.

 

Solomon Islands strengthened its partnership with Australia at the second series of its bilateral ‘Senior Officials Talks’ (SOTs) between government officials, held in Brisbane, Australia, on 15 August 2023.

Solomon Islands has been granted three years extension by the United Nations to prepare for LDC graduation. This was made possible through a Resolution which was adopted by the General Assembly in New York on Friday (25th August 2023).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands presented its compliments to the Embassy of France in Vanuatu and has the honor to inform the latter with great sadness of the sudden passing of the late Mr Robert Bochman, Honorary Consul of France to Solomon Islands at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara on Sunday, 13th of August 2023.

Complementing efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External to enhance knowledge and capacity of its next generation of diplomats, timely assistance had been received, with the presentation of a set of books on the Practice of Diplomacy by the British High Commission to Solomon Islands.
